On-line System: In spite of Martin Zombeck’s incredible work, we have decided the on-line reservation system we were trying is not the proper one for the pace and size of our tennis program. We hope to source one that will work faster for the future.
July Member Guest Charity Tournament:
The Member-Guest Tournament 7/18 - 7/20 is going to have a charity component this year, benefitting Camp Sunshine: www.campsunshine.org, a Retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families,on Sebago Lake. While July may seem far away, time speeds up when the weather finally improves. We are soliciting items for the Silent Auction and Raffles, anything from a gift certificate to that grandfather clock sitting in your attic! Tennis Committee Opening:
We are sad to report Marti Johnson is stepping down from the committee. We will miss her and thank her for all the work she has done over the years.
We need to replace her. The procedure is:
The Tennis Committee stands at 9 Members, each with a 6-year term limit. This policy allows one or two new members to be brought on each year, as one or two members fulfill their commitment.
Anyone interested in joining the Committee will be asked to submit a short statement about themselves and their reasons for wanting to serve on the Committee.
New Committee members will be chosen by the Committee based upon:
o Their submitted statements
o Diversity of groups represented within the committee
o Needs within the committee skill base
Current Members and Their Terms are:
2003-2008: Fern Phillips (so there will be another opening later this year)
2004-2009: Bobby Dempsey
2006-2011: Dan Peabody, Megan Greenwood
2007-2012: Ed Colleran, Kate Ford
2008-2013: Shane Cronin, Susan Macri
If you are interested please submit your statement to any committee member or Lisa by May 4th.
Details on changes to Round Robins and mixers will be forthcoming.

York Junior Tennis Team Wins State Championship
The York Golf & Tennis Club's Junior Tennis Team won the state championship on Friday at Portland's Racket and Fitness Center.
The York players won the Portland league, defeating both the Portland Country Club and Lil' Slammer teams in a round robin, to become the 14- and under- Intermediate State Champions.
York won 69 games to runner-up Portland Country Club's 61 games.
The York team now will advance to the regional tournament later this month in Hartford, Conn.
Team members that played in the State match include: Andrew LaMonica, Jared Fitzgerald, Ford Murphy, Corina Fitzgerald, Natalie Lord, Emily Campbell, Ashley Taylor and Erin Collins. Other team members are Joe Vogel, Devon Wood, Pete Carley and Katie MacFarlane.
Lisa Wilcott, the pro at York Golf & Tennis, is the team's coach.
